"It does not eat because it is hungry. It is hungry because it has never once stopped eating."
No true name is recorded for it. History settled on a description instead.
The Hollow Maw is a horrifying avatar of eternal starvation and insatiable void. Manifesting as an unnervingly tall, gaunt humanoid whose skin is stretched paper-thin over protruding ribs and elongated bones, its jaws can unhinge impossibly wide, revealing an endless vortex of shadow where internal organs should be. Originally a catastrophic entity born from a continent-wide magical famine, the Hollow Maw consumed its own worshippers before being chained into an earthen crypt with the monolithic Stone Key.
Wherever the Hollow Maw walks, vegetation instantly withers, water spoils into stagnant sludge, and nearby living beings are overcome with an agonizing, uncontrollable hunger that drives them to turn on one another. It cannot be sated. Every soul, body, and spell it consumes only fuels its void.
Bound behind a single lock, so long as it stays lost.
